RE: FN-FORUM: Outlook .pst files
date posted 9th January 2008 20:01
Hi,
When Outlook archives things it usually creates another .pst file for =
the
archived stuff. Below your main folder in the list in Outlook, isn't =
there
a "Archive Folders" lot of folders?
Kind Regards
Ashley Harvey

Subject: FN-FORUM: Outlook .pst files
I got into a bit of a fix with the Outlook 2003 archive function =
yesterday.=20
Before I started trying to use the archive function, to make sure I =
didn't=20
lose anything, I made a copy (with Outlook closed) of the outlook.pst =
before
I let the archive function run.
The copy .pst file was in the same directory as the original. Then to my =
dismay, I found that even though Outlook did not have the backup file=20
'connected' as a data file; Outlook proceeded to archive the content of =
that
file too!
To make things worse, even though the archive was set to archive before =
1=20
Aug 2007 it actually deleted e-mail prior to Jan 2003 from everywhere!=20
Including the backup copy of the .pst file.
Arghhhhh!
The backup file is the same size as it was originally, its just the =
mails=20
are not visible from Outlook.
Any recovery ideas?
Thanks
