Simple put there are two popular open-source live chat apps, Crafty =
Syntax live Help (With some forks out there) and Help Center Live.

Both are fairly lacking in the looks department and not particularly =
user friendly.

A commercial one I'm currently trialling is Live Help Messenger =
http://livehelp.stardevelop.com/ which is slick but a little lacking in =
power features, however at about =C2=A360 for a perpetual licence =
it=E2=80=99s pretty cheap for what you get and there is a new beta of =
the windows client that looks like it could be a big improvement with =
instant VOIP SIP/SKYPE call-back features etc, also in tests so far it =
seems quite responsive and unlike CSLH your visitor isn=E2=80=99t gone =
before you can initiate a chat request and doesn=E2=80=99t stay listed =
for 5 mins after they have left.

I'd be interested in any other live chat software (Not services I =
don=E2=80=99t like them) I like it to be all in house.
