I had to renew some Mac equipment earlier last year, and went for a
24" iMac. I didn't choose a Mac Pro because I knew I didn't need the
expandability (apart from peripherals for which the USB and Firewire
connections are ample) and like the simple lines and small footprint
of the iMac. I didn't choose a MacBook because my 4-year-old 12"
PowerBook still has life in it and I am (still) waiting for the
MacBook Touch (I don't get the MacBook Air I'm afraid).
I still think it was the right choice and we are currently thinking of
getting another iMac for my business partner.
As for where, I go for either the Apple site (if I want delivery) or
John Lewis (because the price is the same and they usually include an
additional year's warranty).
Regards,
Ian.
