Perhaps adding a new feature to PHP can be a little ambitious, but
it's very easy to get involved and make the project better, like
reporting bugs (http://bugs.php.net/report.php) for example. There
also several mailing lists (http://www.php.net/mailing-lists.php) to
be involved in the PHP community. I am really involved in the Drupal
community, so I don't really have a lot of time to contribute to the
PHP community. The way I see it, open source doesn't mean free, if
you use open source resources you can always contribute back.
