FN-FORUM: SSL and E-Merchant

Hi, I've been subscribed to the list for a while but am a first time poster.

I'm in the middle of finishing my first e-commerce project, and have found
that the transfer from the standard site to the SSL secured site is very
slow, (I'm using Fasthosts) is this normal and does anyone have any tips?
I'm also going to use Fasthosts for the e-merchant side but wondered if
anyone has any recommendations of other e-merchant providers etc The site
is being built in asp.net 2.0 not sure if this is of any importance?
