Clients tend to be fairly reasonable if you explain that you've been =
ill, so
the expected delivery date is X. What they don't like is "Sorry, the job
didn't get done, because .." (i.e., after deadline, with no expected
timeframe).

If you're under the weather, you need to take a day or two off relaxing =
and
getting a long night's sleep, otherwise you'll be perpetually running at
half speed, making the situation worse!
