Been running vista64 for three months and it has not been a good experience.
After being so crap at security M$ have overreacted
with a security strategy that is not comprehensible to those who have used
*nix or other OS's. So over the top that the danger is not that people will
break in but that people will break out.
Most drivers aren't signed. When I try to compile for x64, Visual Studio
wont let me - only have 32bit System.Data!
Security is so extreme that I can't use my uPnP network storage for 1.
running any app, including an install,
2. housing the source for Visual Studio projects, 3. pretty much anything
else.
For web dev though the Abyss Web server - free, fast and can do .net - is
superb. Take the ready build of php from their site
and php will work immediately.
