I use Heart Internet - and they're not bad for what they do, and it's at an
excellent price.

Subject: Re: FN-FORUM: Suggestions for Dedicated server selection Please!!
Having been through the Fasthosts password fiasco with five dedicated
servers, email and domain hosting, they are not a company I would
recommend. "You are in queue position 10013 and we are just about to cut
you off before anyone speaks to you".
I have used WebFusion before, but found their service deteriorated when
they were taken over by Host Europe and then by Pipex. (incidentally the
original WebFusion people appear to have resurfaced at Heart Internet).
All these are definitely at the cheaper end of the market though. If you
haven't got the server admin knowledge, the support you will get will
probably not be good enough, remember with dedicated servers and co-lo
you are responsible for pretty much the whole box, which is a bit bloody
scary when someone asks you to hack the kernel on a live web server. I
would have thought you would be better off going for a higher end
hosting package with proper support.
My recommendation would be to get all your metrics together about
throughput, file sizes and things and then go and approach someone like
Demon or Star Internet for a price. Then work your way down from there.
