RE: FN-FORUM: Ecommerce Round up

From my eperience it depends on the potential market, average cart value =
and the clients current bank.
Website Payments Pro (PayPal) is a seamless backend integration form yr =
client site through to them. The customer doesn't leave yr site to goto =
paypal(except for express checkout) No need for merch account as its =
rolled into one and no-setup fee, no cancellation fee, 20 per month but =
commission fees are expensive and all revenue collected needs to =
manually removed from PayPal to the clients account (min 7 days). =
Obviously you get Express Checkout for PayPal users too (for what that =
worth)
In terms of the rest ie ePDQ , ProTx, SECPay etc I find its just down to =
which bank the customer is with. The integration is fairly similar, =
support for integration varies, fees are similar and features of the =
clients control panel with the gateways are fairly similar too.
my 10 pence

Subject: FN-FORUM: Ecommerce Round up
On a personal note Xebit ltd are planning to dabble in some online =20
selling, (car parts and Racing Simulators set-ups) so I thought I'd =20
ask for some suggestions and draw on your collective experience for =20
the best way to get started...
So, what shop builder, payment gateway etc are we all using/planning =20
on using for our next project and why? (I was looking at Tradingeye, =20
but it seems to be getting more expensive)
What are the merits/demerits of the various payment gateways, when do =20
you choose protx over paypal pro etc. do you need a merchant account =20
with a bank? which one is best/cheapest etc...
I promise to collect all responses together and write up a guide to =20
getting started in ecommerce for the wiki...
Thank you for your thoughts....
