FIIK what digital negatives are but the analogy doesn't stand. Only one
person can supply those images. In our world another developer can
modify the site just as well. If the client isn't asking for quotes from
other developers it's because they're trusting you not to screw them
over. If you charge them significantly more than you would if you did
not have the existing relationship, it's a breach of that trust.
Or do you have some sort of contract that says they can't get the
site modified by anyone else?

At least with, say, the contract mobile phone business you know exactly how
long you need to sign up for to get your "free" phone.
