Re: FN-FORUM: Sitecheck - Updating my website - using CSS

date posted 13th March 2008 16:31

Hi nigel - thanks for the advice

Can I ask people then - if the primary objective is to get the website to
display properly - why use CSS at all, as it seems to be a complete pain in
the rear - at least with tables I know it is going to display correctly, th=
e
reason I want to use css is I hope it may have an impact on my google ratin=
g

Most sites designed using css do not display correctly in IE 5 on my Mac
(including your own) - that=B9s not a criticism, by the way - it is just
stating that as far as I can see, I have tried to follow the 'rules' of css
positioning, and it works fine on my browser - I have mailed it to many
people all of which say it is fine - plus used this link

http://browsershots.org/http://www.photofixer.co.uk/photofixer_v4/

And they all seem fine - so it Is just IE ...

As I said - I am not primarily a web designer, is there any way I can auto
detect IE browsers and redirect users to a table based layout

I will look into the issue of correcting it for IE, but most of my potentia=
l
customers (photographers and ad agencies) are using OS X / Safari and
similar
