Re: FN-FORUM: Private no-cost developer "seminar" anyone? PROPOSED AGENDA
date posted 1st April 2008 02:14
Thanks to those who responded.
Okay, I set out a proposal below for feedback. First, though, something has
happened meantime causing delay to my response and potentially phenomenal
change to my future.
I was having a chat last Saturday with a woman who's very close. She
returned to China four weeks ago. The long and short of it is that she has
said yes to marriage! Not celebrating yet - cultural difficulties as regards
what her family accept (especially father) have to "evolve". Frankly, after
a stinking divorce some years ago I never wanted to remarry but she's quite
special!
Why explain?
Because I intend to live in China, and want to visit within the month. I
have nearly 100 good developers available over there so shall wholly
reorganise my pursuits - a drastic change both to business and life style.
You can guess the impact to my thought and income patterns. I hope,
gradually, to bring them under one roof.
The course / mini-seminar / business practice weekend...
Those who are interested can let me know when IN APRIL they want to come up
to Edinburgh for the weekend. Two people who want to come don't need to stay
at my home so I can take 6 for the course - up to 4 staying. Only one spare
bed so sleeping-bags required. I can organise B&B or hotel for those that
want one.
Proposed agenda (I am open to relevant suggestions to change)...
Friday evening [90 minutes] Marketing and Negotiation
-> Intro - the purpose of reappraisal and structuring of imperfect managers
-> Human brain limbic system and understanding FEAR response mechanisms
FEAR = False Evidence Appearing Real
-> "Spider web" method of market focus
-> "2 stage, 7 step" killer negotiation method
-> "Menagerie" method of managing meetings
Saturday morning [2 hours] Business planning method and theory
-> Realising practical personal aims (the step ladder approach)
-> Time planning
-> Back-2-front business planning - forecast first, cash flow v needs
-> Business planning for practical action (writing fact, not fantasy)
-> Earn well, plan well, or spend wisely?
-> Why no need exists for business loans to a service shop
Group lunch preparation and morning feedback/questions [2 hours]
Saturday afternoon [2 hours] Business planning practice (computers required)
-> Completing personalised CFF templates
-> Completing personalised Business Plan templates
Group dinner preparation and afternoon feedback/questions [2 hours]
Saturday evening (possibly in pub - group choice)
-> Putting it all together
-> Structuring management and negotiations for Value Added Business
-> Presenting and branding for the future
-> Co-operation and the Chinese concept of guanxi
Sunday morning (according to group choice and weather conditions)
-> Practical example of similarities between a mountain walk, a healthy
business and a satisfying lifestyle
-> Alternatively, continued practical personalised CFF and BP
Sunday early afternoon [45 minutes] Summary
-> Adapting marketing and business plans to lifestyle
-> Adapting marketing and business plans to time-style
-> Personal aims: the step-ladder approach revisited
-> A confident 3 month plan = a manager with a happy outlook
It seems like a lot to deliver in a short time: it is! However, all the
subjects covered are short, relatively simple, and powerful in combination.
We will get through it all and attendees will take a lot away to hone to
their own preferences.
I shall finalise materials on confirmation of date and attendees.
Be aware: although I have been through the high flying executive process I
now live a philosphical life. You'll find no aires or graces; no judgement;
no "this is the right way". This is feedback probably unavailable in one
place for free and in one short but fast paced weekend. It's in-my-home,
laid-back, practical stuff based on many years' experience. I shall not be
sending out materials to non-attendees.
To emphasise what I mentioned in the original post: there is no charge or
hidden agenda.
List moms - apologies for long post, and thanks.
Over to those who have an interest - please get back to me quickly if
interested!
Mike A.
