Long-term subscribers will know that I take a pretty dim view of list abuse or
poor netiquette but in this case I'll say that Sam (who by and large is a
valuable contributer to the list, whilst he - usually - gently plugs his
services) is only slightly, if at all, across the line. If he had rephrased
his post as "we've just installed this software and it rocks and other email
service providers on list should check it out" it would've been this side.

Generally speaking, just as new list members announcing who they are and
what they do doesn't seem to go against the grain, existing members announcing
new services is okay.

As long as you don't word it like an advert.
