they tend to be written from a programmers perspective, and don't
repeat the basics too much.
I would also suggest going to a real (big) bookshop and get a feel for
which series suit the way you learn.
The most useful books I have had have involved three chapters of
reading, a few more of examples, and most of the rest being reference.
Programming PHP is the one I have -dated 2002
most of the ones I have kept are O'Reilly, with an honourable mention to
Paul DuBois for MySQL - 2003
