Shouldn't get lots of funny named programs, what you should see is the
programs you are running.

Just checked on my Task Manager, all I get is the list of programs I know I
have open.

Could be a virus problem, with lots of nasties running in background.
Probably best to run a full system scan using something like Kaspersky to
see what may be there.

Bear in mind if you do install XP instead, you could still have similar
problems.
