I'll have a look at the suggestions.

Has anyone worked with Jomres for Joomla? Seems to be a good booking
system/calendar.

I did one for a site I hadn't designed myself. It integrated quite well
and does pretty much what you want to do. Have a look at
http://www.discovery-agropoli.co.uk/availability.php

Like I say, I didn't design the site, but provided them with the booking
code. It does no card payments. The client wanted to contact any
customers prior to booking and deal with payments off the site.
